John J. Dwyer, Jr. graduated from John Marshall Law School in 1981. During law school, he served as a member of the Law Review and participated in Moot Court. John began practicing law in 1981 for a firm which specialized in the handling of plaintiff's personal injury litigation. During his first three years, he tried ten product liability cases to verdict. The cases involved fires/explosions which caused personal injury and property damage. He also tried cases to verdict involving medical malpractice, premises liability and motor vehicle accidents.
John founded The Law Offices of John J. Dwyer, Jr. in 1989. Over the course of his 27-year career, John has represented clients who suffer serious personal injury and wrongful death as a result of negligence. John has tried and settled a wide range of product liability cases including cases involving design, assembly or manufacturing of products and cases involving the failure to warn. John has recovered tens of millions of dollars on behalf of his clients through mediation, settlement and trial in cases involving car accidents, truck accidents, medical malpractice, premises liability, accounting malpractice and architect malpractice.
John's work as an honest advocate for his clients continues to earn him the respect of his colleagues and opponents. He remains active in the legal community as a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and served as the co-editor of The Automobile Litigation Book, 2002 edition, published by the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. The Automobile Litigation Book serves as a resource for personal injury lawyers and addresses many of the issues attorneys face when handling automobile negligence claims.

Daniel J. McDevitt joined the firm in 1996. He attended DePaul University College of Law after graduating from the University of Iowa in 1993. He graduated from DePaul in 1996 and was licensed to practice in both Illinois State Courts and Illinois Federal Courts. Dan was also licensed to practice in Wisconsin in 2006.
Dan represents clients who have suffered serious personal injury and wrongful death. Dan has resolved a wide range of personal injury claims through mediation, settlement and trial, including claims arising from motor vehicle accidents, premises liability and medical malpractice. In 2004, Dan was made a partner and the firm name was changed to Dwyer & McDevitt, Ltd., to reflect the partnership.
Dan is a member of the American Association of Justice, Illinois State Bar Association and Illinois Trial Lawyer's Association. Dan is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocate Forum, a prestigious group of trial lawyers with experience handling cases in excess of one million dollars in value. In 2008 and 2009, Dan was named a Rising Star by Law and Politics and the publishers of the Chicago Magazine, a distinction given to no more than 2.5% of attorneys in the State of Illinois.

Lauren Buchanan was hired as an Associate in November of 2008. Lauren graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northern Illinois University. She participated in Mock Trial and was a semi-finalist in the 2006 mock trial competition. In 2007 she was named a finalist in the Moot Court Competition at NIU. Lauren actively participated in Trial Advocacy, Appellate Advocacy and the Northern Illinois University Trial Team. During her second and third years at Northern Illinois, she served as a tutor for first year students and assisted a senior professor with media technology in the courtroom.
Lauren's practice focuses on plaintiff's personal injury litigation including motor vehicle accidents and premises liability. Lauren is fluent in Spanish and is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association.
